Muntakim Saad is a Bangladeshi journalist and graduate student pursuing a Master of Arts in Journalism at the University of Nevada, Reno, beginning in Fall 2026. He brings more than nine years of experience in investigative and public-interest journalism, with a reporting career focused on crime, human rights, justice, and accountability.
Before beginning his graduate studies in the United States, he worked as a staff reporter at The Daily Star, Bangladesh’s leading English-language newspaper. His reporting has involved field investigation, in-depth interviews, document-based research, source verification, and coverage of sensitive issues involving victims, institutions, law enforcement, and the justice system. His work has been recognized with The Daily Star’s Best Investigative Report Award in 2018 and 2022, while one of his investigations was listed by the Global Investigative Journalism Network among Bangladesh’s top investigative stories of 2022.
His journalism has appeared in national and international outlets, including The Daily Star and the Asia News Network. Earlier in his career, he worked with bdnews24.com as a trainee broadcast journalist and interned at The Hindu in Bengaluru, gaining experience across print and digital journalism.
Alongside reporting, he has a longstanding interest in journalism research, digital media, and the changing relationship between journalism and technology. He holds an M.A. in Communication and Journalism from the University of Mysore, where he graduated with distinction, as well as an M.A. in Literatures in English and Cultural Studies and a B.A. in English Language and Literature from Jahangirnagar University.
At the University of Nevada, Reno, he is continuing to develop his work across journalism, digital storytelling, multimedia, and media innovation.
